A blind that will not sit level, a slat that snapped years ago, or an afternoon room so bright nobody sits in it until the sun drops behind the trees.
Picking from a sample book on a showroom counter does not tell you how that slat will hold up over a shower or hold back a west-facing afternoon. We choose the slat material per room and the mount per window, because those two decisions are most of the job.
That is exactly why Brentwood Blind Company does it differently.
We are an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer, so the blinds you see are ones we install every week in Greater Nashville homes. Every decision, slat material, mount and control, is made at your windows rather than at a counter.
Damp and steamy rooms generally rule out real wood, which can warp over time. Faux wood and aluminium hold their shape in humidity, which is why they are the usual choice for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries.
Both work. An inside mount sits within the recess for a cleaner line and leaves the frame visible. An outside mount covers the frame and blocks more of the light that leaks around the edges.
Blinds are slats or fabric on a cord or wand that raise and stack at the top of the window. Shutters are rigid panels fixed into the frame with louvers that tilt. Blinds pull out of the way, shutters stay in place and frame the window.
Blinds are measured to the opening, and the measurements differ depending on whether the blind will sit inside the recess or over the frame. That decision is made per window before anything is ordered.
